Dr. Ron Shapiro, MD graduated from Emory University
Medical School in Atlanta Georgia and is currently on
the board of the International Society of Hair Restoration
Surgery. He is also a diplomat of the American Board of
Medical Examiners.
Dr. Shapiro is recognized by his peers as a leading expert
in the field of Hair Transplant Surgery. He was the first
physician to be asked do a live surgery demonstrating the
technique of follicular unit grafting for his peers (Done
at the Annual ISHRS conference in Las Vegas 1995). Since
that time he has been asked to lecture, run workshops, and
perform live surgical demonstrations at more than twenty
five major international and national conference in the past
6 years. Physicians from around the world visit Dr Shapiro's
Clinic, not only to learn his technique, but also as patients
to have the procedure performed on themselves.
Many of Dr.
Shapiro's clients comment not only about his technical expertise,
but also his down to earth attitude and concern for their
welfare and individual results.
Dr. Shapiro is also the founder
and director of The Shapiro Medical Group in Minneapolis,
Minnesota. His clinic specializes in Follicular Unit Transplantation
and hairline design and his group of hair transplant surgeons
are world renown experts in Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation.
He has also published numerous articles on the
subject and is well known for his hands-on technical ability.
Dr. Shapiro recently co-authored a new major medical textbook
on the subject of hair transplantation with Walter Unger,
MD., called “Hair
Transplantation”, 4th
Edition, published by Marcel Dekker, Inc. The book was published
in April 2004, and is the primary textbook used by physicians
studying hair transplantation surgery.
Dr. Shapiro is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Emergency
Medicine. He was among the first to pass the boards in the
newly created American Board of Hair Restoration. In 1999
was elected by his peers to be on the Board of Governors
to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery
(ISHRS). In 2000 he was also elected to the Board of Governors
for the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery ASHRS)
a branch of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. In
2000 he received the "Archimedes" award for excellence
in hair restoration from the Italian Society of Hair Restoration
Surgery.
In addition to these academic and surgical accomplishments,
Dr Shapiro is known for being a caring physician and patient
advocate with the desire to ensure quality care for patients
in the field of hair restoration. A search of the internet
